Shannon Willow is an award winning artist who is deeply passionate about the environment. A trained painter, she works in many mediums, including paint, wood, leather, and old glass trade beads. Currently living in Clarkston, Georgia, she designed and facilitated 4 public murals engaging over 300 community members in all. Diversity Mural is the largest and located on the Clarkston Community Center. It represents and validates the multi-cultural, multi-faith people and many of the 60 languages spoken in Clarkston.
Ms. Willow partnered with GVP students in a powerful community building creative experience that culminated in two beautiful murals. The murals represent GVP Core Values and the words that embody their identity as students, school sisters, and community leaders.

Need a break from the hustle and bustle? This home on St. Simon Island is a magazine-perfect three bedroom, two bathroom cottage just a few minutes walk to East Beach! A chance to take the family and enjoy the sunshine!
One week stay, arriving on Saturday evening at 4:00 pm, departing the following Saturday at 10:30 am. Please limit the group staying to five people, and keep in mind that there is only parking available for two cars.

There is plenty to do and see on Fripp Island. The beach is great to walk and bike on (very flat), tennis, golf, hiking, kayaking, SUP, nature walks, wildlife interpretation... If you want to venture off of the island there are a variety of day trips. Go visit historic Beaufort, South Carolina just 19 miles away with all of its history and fine restaurants. Both Savannah and Charleston are easy day trips rich in history and beauty. Hilton Head is a little over an hour away for great factory outlet shopping.This will be one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations your family will ever take. Enjoy quality time together while exploring this delightful area.
All essentials are provided - linens, kitchenware, towels and beach towels. You bring your tooth brushes and bathing suits and you are pretty much set!

This delicious Eastern European dinner party donated by fabulous hostess Irina Goodman includes tastes from different cultures of Eastern European nations, specifically Lithuanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian, and Polish.
The 4-course menu for 10 will feature:
Appetizers: black and red caviar, smoked fish, meats, and vegetables.
Soup: Irina's take on the traditional Russian/Ukranian beet soup - borsht.
Entree: Jewish Lithuanian brisket with young potatoes, vegetables, and a variety of salads.
Dessert: Baked goods that include seasonal fruits.
The alcoholic drink of choice to accompany this dinner is ice-cold vodka, however beer and wine will be offered as well.

Vietnamese Dinner at Phamcliff Farms
Home-Cooked Dinner for 8 & Tour of Urban Home Farm
Nourish yourself with a 5-course home-cooked Vietnamese meal at the home of board member, Han Pham, in Decatur.
Imagine an evening sipping cocktails in a garden that spans over a quarter of an acre, visiting some urban chickens, and dining on a screened-in porch surrounded by woods. Your meal will include organically-grown food from the garden. The menu will feature Vietnamese classics such as spring rolls, egg rolls, shaken beef salad, and pho (beef broth soup) and an array of exotic Vietnamese fruits and dessert.
Your host has been cooking with her mother and grandmother since she was a little child and has perfected her recipes while cooking for her own children. If you’re not sure about bidding on this meal, listen to her mother, who always says, “you can’t get food this good in the restaurant!”

Our mission is to develop a strong educational foundation for each student within a caring community using a strengths-based approach and intensive instruction in English language and literacy, academic subjects, and the arts. With an approach focused on students’ strengths and resources, we aim to demonstrate how adolescent English Language Learners with limited and interrupted education can be highly successful students and empowered citizens, and in so doing to provide an exemplary model of excellent and equitable education for newcomer refugee learners.
